Let us send it off, before it inflicts further damage.

Never before have I been so keen to 'shoo' off' a year. Had 'Rub' accepted my wish, the number of months would have been eight. Anyway, let me start off by chronicling the 2K8; the relevant stuff from my standpoint.

Michael Crichton(1942-2008)

Let me be honest. This is perhaps the only celebrity death that I have mourned in recent times. The most impressive thing about Mr Crichton was the amount of research that he put into his novels. I still remember one of the books written by him, State of Fear had 15 pages (in fine print!) devoted just to the references. 

Moving on to bollywood, the box office was more or less thanda in 2008. I believe that Abhishek Kapoor's Rock On! is the year's best movie. Everything about the movie is rocking and, the music, is exceptional. 

Over to technology, September saw Google coming up with its own version of browser, Chrome. Chrome was been very successful and garnered a 10% market share in just around 3 months, a very difficult task in the super competitive browser market.

Before I close, 2008 saw the emergence of several national 'heroes', the politicians who were in the news for all the interesting statements that they made, time to time. Hope these @%$ learn something. It is very surprising but in the US, the elected representatives are given a crash course in leadership at Cambridge . About time?
